Acting Classes

Beginning Acting

 Saturday Mornings – 10:00am – 12:00noon

November 8 – December 6

(5 classes) 

This class is designed for anyone over the age of 13 who may have taken a few acting classes (or not) and who want to learn more about the craft. Students will learn the basics of several different acting techniques and exercises. Classes will focus on performing in various mediums… on stage, on film, and in commercials – how are they different and how are they the same? Each student will perform at least one scene per class and will be given one on one coaching. Because of that personalized attention, the class size will be limited to no more than 8 students and spots will be filled on a first-come, first served basis. Classes are held just north of Newark, DE off of New London Rd. (896).   $150.00

The Business of Acting

Saturday, November 15, 2008 – 1:00pm – 4:00pm

This class is designed for anyone over the age of 16 who has considered making acting their career. Whether you’re 17 or 70, the tools that you’ll learn in this seminar will help you be successful in an incredibly competitive field. Students will learn how, where, and why to get headshots, how to format your acting resume, how to get your first few acting credits, how and when to get an agent, how to do self-promotion, bookkeeping for actors, expectations on the stage and on the set. In addition to his many acting credits, Mr. Irving has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Delaware and spent 10 years as executive director of a multi-million dollar corporation before “quitting his day job.” Now he brings those years of business experience to you. Each student will take home a CD with links to industry resources as well as a spreadsheet for managing schedules, bookings and finances. Classes are held just north of Newark, DE off of New London Rd. (896).    $50.00   ($40 for students enrolled in Beginning Acting)

About the Teacher

After performing throughout Texas and New York City, Lee Irving is thrilled to be back in Delaware where he was born and raised. He has appeared in over 50 plays, films, television shows and countless commercials and industrial films. Some of his theatre credits include The Full Monty, Psycho Beach Party, My Three Angels, Communicating Doors, The Woman in Black and A Christmas Carol. On film he can be seen in Friday Night Lights, Confessions, Inspector Mom, and The Land of Shadowed Sand. Lee has appeared on television in A House Divided, Barney & Friends, Walker, Texas Ranger, LAX, and Dallas:Return to Southfork.

In addition to his acting credits, Lee is on the Board of Directors of Dallas' "The Column Awards" and is a nominator/judge for Philadelphia's "Barrymore Awards". He was also a casting assistant for the Lifetime series Inspector Mom, as well as for both of the Inspector Mom movies.

He has studied acting at the Class Act Studios in Dallas, TX and HB Studio in New York City. His coaches have included Austin Pendleton, Glenn Morshower, Daniel Foster, Grant James, Juli Ericson, and Terry Martin.

When he is not on stage or in front of the camera, he is a substitute teacher in the Colonial, Christina, and Brandywine school districts, teaching kindergarten through 12th grade.
